As a person with health issues that limit my mobility, I was nervous about starting a class. I expected to be able to do a small percentage of the class. I filled out intake forms that explained my issues. The instructor found exercises that allowed me to do a full hour and targeted my health issues. I am extremely impressed and happy. - EO

Went to a lovely parent and baby yoga class today, taught by Tamara Cleaver. It was everything I needed to unwind and destress from the day to day with a young human. On top of that, there were many breathing techniques she taught that are transferable to calming down a small child. Both baby and me left refreshed. I highly recommend! - LM

Such a unique gem in Brentwood! Love their Monday restorative class, and they have such a great variety of workshops! The space is gorgeous and everyone is so welcoming! Truly a wellness hub! - DL

Galentine’s Day breathwork, sound healing and more event, February 14, 2024 with Cat Cheong and Shanti Leblanc.

I signed up knowing I wanted to invest in self-care for myself while simultaneously curious about how this safe space for healing and connecting through breathwork and sound healing would develop. Its not easy to be vulnerable as a woman, in front of a room full of strangers. But Cat and Shanti made the space safe, sacred and compassionate. Cat’s breath work may have changed my life for the better and Shanti’s voice is medicinal. I hope to see both Cat and Shanti offer regular classes for us at Funketown. Together, they are powerful teachers. Thank you Funketown for making a space where this kind of beautiful, divine feminine healing and connection can take place. - LP

I had the opportunity to rent the Funkentown space for my book launch in February 2024. What caught my attention the most was Wendy's quick response, flexibility, and understanding. For personal reasons, I had to change the event date twice, and she was always ready to understand and meet my needs. In addition, the space is beautiful, extremely organized, and well-kept. After the launch experience, I felt so welcomed, as if I were in my own home, that I decided to hold meetings for my mindfulness course at Funkentown as well. All of my friends loved the space! I also took a series of yoga classes with Tamara - which was incredible, with a small group and personalized attention. I was also very happy to participate in the space's one-year retreat with Sean and the team, which was very revealing and inspiring for me! I am very grateful to have met the entire Funkentown team. You have been like a second family to me here in Brentwood Bay! I will be eternally grateful for the experiences I had here. - JD

I recently attended my first pelvic floor yoga class, and I have to say—it was the best yoga experience I’ve had so far! The instructor, Tamara, created such a welcoming and informative environment. What stood out to me most was how she began the class by sharing science-based insights about our bodies. It really helped me understand the purpose behind each movement and breath.

Tamara’s approach was gentle, thoughtful, and empowering. She introduced breathing and movement techniques that felt both grounding and effective, especially for connecting with and strengthening the pelvic floor. I left the class feeling more aware of my body and truly refreshed.
