Carly Janes
Hi, I'm Carly!
I help people get out of career ruts and pursue meaningful work.
In 2018, after burnout from chasing a misaligned career for over a decade and a half, I found myself completely lost and without a sense of identity outside my job title. I didn't know who I was, what I liked or was good at. Turns out I had been playing someone else's game for my entire career. So, I devoured countless personal growth books, programs, courses, podcasts and counselling sessions trying to find the answer to the dreaded "Who am I / Why am I here" questions and started to find myself a little more each day until I got to a place where I recognized and admired the person opposite me in the mirror.
Along the way, I developed a framework for building a diversified career portfolio that can grow with me. After the pandemic, I noticed many friends and colleagues struggling in their careers–either getting laid off, burning out, falling into general career ruts or existential crises. I realized that many of us were never taught how to pursue a life with more than one profession or that we could even have multiple careers, nevertheless how to transition gracefully no matter what stage of life we are in, so now I am on a mission to share my process with others.
I'm a Co-active-trained coach, and when I'm not moonlighting as a Digital Writer and Career Coach, I work as the Chief of Staff for a small tech company. Part of my post-burnout healing involved building a little abode on Pender Island. When I'm not working, I love connecting with the island's beauty by water or on land with my four-legged furry friend, Skye.
